RHRA – Robin Hood Residents Association are keen to forge links with the school community. They are planning on opening the orchard every day in summer from 11-3. It’s a fabulous place for picnics so please support them (Sorry, no dogs or football allowed)

Ongoing

For just £1 per week, you can raise funds for the PTA whilst being entered for two draws. One locally where a Robin Hood supporter is guaranteed to win, the other a National prize of £25,000!!  With the National Lottery now £2 per play AND the increase in odds it makes sense to join ours!

Absolutely anyone can sign up – no need to even have a connection with school so why not set up a work syndicate? Sign up neighbours as well as family and friends?!

The Giving Machine

If you shop online – login through The Giving Machine and raise funds for school.  Login to www.thegivingmachine.co.uk/find-a-cause/

Search for Robin Hood Primary, Wakefield and click “Support” from the pull down menu at the side of “Robin Hood”.  There is NO cost to you, but partner companies – and there are loads – pay a %age towards school.

Again, this can be anyone who chooses to pay their funds to us, so shout about it at work, etc.

ROBIN HOOD PRIMARY SCHOOL PTA
Newsletter July 2015

Here we are at the end of another fabulous year at Robin Hood Primary – don’t know about you, but it only seems two minutes ago to me that we were starting the academic year in September.

The Festival of Learning Day was a truly special day for Robin Hood – it was great to see so many parents there looking round the fabulous new building.  Personal thanks to everyone who helped the PTA part of the day – RHRA (Robin Hood Residents Association) -  for serving in the Cafe, Deana Surtees and Lisa Rickers who had challenges to overcome in getting the popcorn & candy floss machines working, Yasmin for wonderful face painting, Rebecca for expertly running the Crazy Sand!! And of course, the committee for the hours of work “behind the scenes creating things that aren’t actively seen, but couldn’t be done without them!!

Now that we have our wonderful new classrooms and roof play deck (which the PTA have provided £2,000 towards the equipment/games).  We are also hoping to provide funds to help revamp the playground. This will cost in excess of £40,000!!  Rob Jones, our Treasurer, is applying for grants, but as we are also planning on making changes to the school field and creating a wildlife garden from the scrubland to the back of the field – we can’t rest on our laurels!

If anyone knows of grants/funding sources to help facilitate this – please get in touch (ways to contact below)

We have been rather frugal with our spending this year, knowing that the playground revamp was needed, but we have still provided Santa and Selection Boxes, Easter eggs, new starters book bags and contribution for the Year 6 leavers prom along with a substantial donation towards “decking” out the play deck!

We always need additional support and have had to curtail some of the activities that we’d have liked to have staged due to a lack of help.  If you are willing to help at events, please let us know so that we have a list of people to call on. We appreciate that not everyone can – or wants to – be part of the committee, but if we know you’re happy to help out, that will enable us to plan events for the future.  As Louis is starting Year 6 in September, I’ll only be Chair another year and would like to make sure there is a strong, robust and well supported PTA in place by then.

If anyone has any fundraising suggestions, ideas how to improve parent participation/communication or any other comments regarding the PTA – please get in touch!  It is YOUR PTA, your views are important on how we raise funds to how they are spent!
